Fade in.
The scene opens in a hotel room, camera zoomed in on the door inside the room. The camera begins to pan out, and it pans back past a bed, and then slowly past another one where Charlie Velez is seen sitting down on. Dressed up as he usually is, Charlie has his arms on his knees, looking up at the camera. Charlie Velez grins, something that will be common here in XHF: Vortex Wrestling.
"The first. That's what this is. This is the first time that the greatest wrestler of the modern day era has stepped into a different ring; stepped into something that's unknown. An established star like me, a living legend like myself coming into something new. People are asking me why would I do this; everybody knows how wealthy I am, I could probably buy Vortex Wrestling if I wanted. Why just be an active wrestler in this federation? You want the answers to a question that I think is quite obvious? What did I not do in the XHF that I obviously will do here in Vortex Wrestling? I dominated my opponents yes, but what did I never do? What held me back from a picture perfect career?"
"The World Championship. The championships that comes in many different forms in different companies, but only has one sole purpose, and that's to prove that you're the best the world has to offer. The World Championship, a title held by few, a title that only the greats hold…the greats, except Charlie Velez. Charlie Velez never had his opportunity to win the World Championship in the old XHF, and never will. Vortex Wrestling is going to give me the satisfaction I need when I run through the competition and win the championship that has tried to stay away from me for so long."
Charlie sighs and closes his eyes, breathing in the scent of sweet victory.
"I need to take my steps though. The first show on May 5th I face Kris Quake. Kris, I think I've heard of you before. You teamed up with that crazy guy and held the Tag Titles right? That's really the biggest thing you've ever done in your time in the XHF? You have to pardon me for not knowing your life outside of the XHF, you have to remember the XHF is the only federation I was ever in, and other federations couldn't hold a candle to it. So, that's essentially what you did in the XHF, right? Might have won a Junior Heavyweight Title or something, which is good, but do you honestly think you can run in the ring with me? I know you're going to tell me this isn't the same XHF and yadaaa yadaa yadaa and that's a fair point. I just hope you watched those tapes of the XHF, because you'll be getting nothing but the best."
"That's right Kris, I did have a few neck surgeries and my neck still isn't good. It might never bee good, but you know what? I still live on. I can still out wrestle everybody with a broken neck even if everybody used steroids. My neck hasn't ever and will never hold down Charlie Velez, because Charlie Velez one of a kind; a man that stands above all others. Kris Quake, you can run your mouth and tell everybody that I'm on my way down; I'm twenty four years old and in my physical prime. A broken neck is nothing to me, and it never will be."
The camera zooms in on the face of Charlie Velez, showing the intensity in his eyes.
"I don't believe in heroes, Quake. Heroes are made everyday . Me…I'm no hero. Never claimed to be, never wanted to be. I'm legend, and legends never die. Monday the 5th, what I do to you will be legendary."
Slowly and softly Charlie finishes his promo…
"Enjoy your damnation…
Thanks…be to God."
